Lakers News: Pacific Division Rival Started Austin Reaves, Taylor Swift Rumor

In this story:
One of the stranger offseason talking points for the Los Angeles Lakers was a rumor about young guard Austin Reaves possibly dating music artist Taylor Swift. It went all over the internet, and many people believed the rumor.

Upon hearing it, Reaves refuted the rumor and he revealed that he had a girlfriend. It was fun while it lasted, but it did beg the question as to how it got started.
According to a recent report by Melissa Rohlin at Fox Sports, the rumor was started by a member of the Los Angeles Clippers social media team. It’s ironic, but makes this entire situation that much more hilarious.
“Rohlin noted that Zain Fahimullah, a social media design associate for the Clippers, was the one who "fired off a tweet from a burner account on June 5 to fabricate that the two were spotted at a bar."
Per Doric Sam of Bleacher Report
Despite the rumor being fake, it didn’t stop memes being made. Or even members of the Lakers taking some fun shots at Reaves at his expense. It was all in good fun of course, but head coach Darvin Ham even got his chance to poke fun at his guard.

The summer of Reaves was that much more interesting for a short period of time, even if it wasn’t true. But at least the Lakers won’t be getting all of the extra coverage that the Kansas City Chiefs are getting due to Swift being with tight end Travis Kelce.
Many NFL fans have found it very annoying, and it has caused a lot of people to turn away from the Chiefs this season. So, if anything the Lakers won’t have that distraction as they head into the next season.
