Lakers News: First Date For All-Star Voting Revealed

In this story:
December 19th marks the date in which All-Star Voting opens up.
With just around 2 months until the All-Star break, the early part of the season has flown by. Much of this can be credited to the In-Season Tournament, which acted as a recurring storyline for a month.
LeBron James and Anthony Davis figure to headline some of the Western Conference voting, as while players like Luka Doncic, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Kevin Durant, Stephen Curry, and of course, Nikola Jokic, have put together monstrous campaigns thus far, the LA brand name and fanbase should elevate LeBron and AD to the top of the votes-received list.
Averaging 25 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 7 assists, James is having his most efficient shooting season since his 2012-2013 (unanimous, outside of the one unexplainable Carmelo Anthony voter) MVP season, knocking down 40% of his 3-point attempts and 54.5% of his field goal attempts at large.
Tagging on an In-Season Tournament MVP to his name, James has one of the more impressive resumes in the conference.
Davis is 2nd in Defensive Player of the Year odds while averaging a solid 24 points and 12.5 rebounds, to go along with 2.6 blocks.
With 3 frontcourt starting spots in the conference, expect Davis and James to join the likes of Nikola Jokic, Domantas Sabonis, Kevin Durant, and via popularity, potentially Victor Wembanyama.
Even if James/Davis slip out of the starting lineup (far likelier to be Davis), they're all but locks to be reserves.
Austin Reaves was a dark horse All-Star candidate prior to the season (I previously wrote an article on this), and while he's played fairly well (especially as of late) he has no business starting in the All-Star game, as Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic, De'Aaron Fox, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Devin Booker, Anthony Edwards, and Desmond Bane all have far better cases than the 6th man.
That said, Reaves could come off the bench, but for that to happen, coaches would need to vote him in (starters are fan-voted, bench is coach-voted), which, given the aforementioned guard depth in the conference, would be highly, highly unlikely.
Lakers fans could make it happen though, just as the Warriors did with Andrew Wiggins back in 2022. From December 19th to January 20th, LA fans can make their voices heard, so be sure to get voting.
