Lakers News: Insider Considers This Only Realistic Scenario For LeBron James To Join Dallas

In this story:

Ever since the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated in the 2023 WCF and the Dallas Mavericks didn't even make the play-in tournament, the rumors have been spiraling about Kyrie Irving and LeBron James teaming up again. Everybody thought that it would be Irving making his way to Hollywood, especially with him being present at some of their playoff games, but Shams Charania changed everything with his new reports.

The former Duke point guard has supposedly been in contact with James about him finding a way to get to Dallas to team up with him and Luka Doncic. The King broke the internet when he teased the idea of him retiring after the final playoff loss of the year but many have speculated that this was just a ploy to get the Lakers' front office to improve the roster once again.

There are so many layers to this, as there always is whenever James is involved, but a trade to Dallas doesn't really make sense. The Mavericks do not have many assets that would be attractive for LA considering they parted ways with most of them at the trade deadline. Bronny James will also be playing all year at USC and LeBron will want to be at as many games as possible.

However, the ties do run deep between Irving and James considering they won one of the greatest championships in history back in 2016 and maybe they believe their best shot at a championship is running it back together.

Bally Sports' Brandon 'Scoop B' Robinson has been active in the past few weeks when it comes to the Lakers' offseason news and he put forth the only way James actually winds up in Dallas.

"The two of them together along with Luka would make sense but to me," said Robinson. "The only way this happens is if LeBron takes a buyout. Realistically, the Mavericks have nothing to offer to the Lakers to create a big three of Luka, Kyrie, and LeBron."
