Lakers News: LA Changes Mind On Fate Of IST Banner At Crypto

In this story:
The Los Angeles Lakers were crowned the first-ever In-Season Tournament Champions after their 123-109 victory on Saturday over the Indiana Pacers.
The Purple and Gold were the best team throughout and earned the money and trophy that came with it. Although Larry O'Brien trophies are the only thing that matters to the organization, they will show some love to the IST championship banner that comes along with it all.
According to The Athletic's Shams Charania, the Lakers will hang and unveil the banner to their home court fans on December 18th.
The Los Angeles Lakers will unveil a unique NBA In-Season Tournament banner to honor their 2023 IST championship. It will be a single forever banner hung on Dec. 18, where future dates will be added should the franchise win additional IST titles in future.

The Lakers‘ new banner for their home arena will be a different shape and color than the existing NBA championship banners to make it distinct. The team wants to honor the moment but recognizes its distinction among titles.

The Lakers will unveil the banner when they host the New York Knicks at Crypto.com Arena.
This isn't exactly the type of banner we are used to hanging, but this organization is the first-ever to win the NBA in-season tournament, and there is something unique to that.
Hopefully, this isn't the only banner ceremony that takes place for this group of gentlemen. Title number 18 is in sight for the team, and if they play like how they have all in-season tournament long, this Lakers team has as good a shot as any team to lift the Larry O'Brien Trophy.
We can't wait to see how the banner looks and to add another to the championship collection.
