Orlando Magic forward Franz Wagner is relieved after his Germany teammates pulled out an 85-82 win despite him sitting on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

Wagner, who turns 22 today, injured his ankle late in the fourth quarter of Friday's FIBA World Cup opener against Japan. However, his team was able to pull out an 85-82 victory against Australia, which secures the team's spot in the next round of the tournament.

Australia held a lead going into the fourth quarter, but Germany was able to lead a comeback. The Aussies had one last chance to tie the game in the final seconds, but Oklahoma City Thunder guard Josh Giddey missed a 3-point shot at the buzzer.

Toronto Raptors guard Dennis Schroder led all scorers with 30 points, while Magic center Moe Wagner managed just four after a 25-point performance against Japan.

With Germany already qualified for the Round of 16, Franz is unlikely to play in the team's meaningless third game against Finland, who is already eliminated from the tournament after dropping their first two games to Australia and Japan.

For the Boomers, Atlanta Hawks guard Patty Mills led the way with 21 points, while Magic guard Joe Ingles contributed five points in the losing effort.

Ingles and Australia is set to meet with Japan in the final game of the opening stage, where the winner will advance and the loser will be eliminated. Tipoff is scheduled for 7:10 a.m. on Tuesday.
