Starting 5: Could Commanders Change Name to Magic?

In this story:

1. WASHINGTON MAGIC? "BetOnline has released odds for the new Commanders name, and the Magic or Magicians is listed with the fourth-best odds at +900."

2. PAOLO FRANCHISE GUY "He improved his jump shot, showing that he's capable in his first year of being a franchise type of player," Perkins said. "I'm looking forward to seeing what he's added to his game this offseason."

3. PAOLO'S FIBA IMPACT "I'm interested to seeing how he adapts in this environment to other great scorers," Lowe said. "I think we're going to see the full breath of his game come out as a screener, a passer, a rebounder. And probably his defense too will be lifted up by the competition around him ... He's going to be a really great all-around player."

4. JI FOR BOJAN? "Why not add some shooting to it? Sure, Bogdanovic is older than their core. If the Magic are ready to start winning games, that’s less relevant. When Bogdanovic ages out of his prime, they’ll need to replace his skillset. Basically, they’ll need someone who can put the ball in the basket."

5. OR BOJAN TO MAVS? "Recent trade talks between Detroit and Dallas, I'm told, were sparked by the Pistons' determination to ease a backcourt logjam by trading Killian Hayes and gained little traction,” Stein wrote.

“While the Mavericks are indeed among the teams with a longstanding interest in acquiring Detroit's Bojan Bogdanovic, their trade priority at this point of the offseason is still believed to be an upgrade at center. The Pistons have been seeking no less than a future first-round pick for Bogdanovic for months."
