New Mavs Ownership Raising Ticket Prices?

The Dumont and Adelson family's tenure as owners of the Dallas Mavericks has seemingly gotten off to a rocky start with the fans after they allegedly raised prices for season ticket holders.

If there's one way to ruffle the feathers of a fan base, it's by significantly raising prices for season ticket holders without warning.

That appears to be the path the Adelson and Dumont family has taken just months into their tenure as owners of the Dallas Mavericks. Multiple accounts through X and Reddit have seemingly confirmed that the price for Mavericks season ticket holders have risen exponentially for next season.

One account on Reddit, LetsGoMavs, wrote that they found out about the hike in price when they went into their account to look at prices for next season. They also said the franchise got rid of its loyalty pricing, which allowed longtime season ticket holders to stay locked in at the old pricing.

"I went into my account to check prices for the [2024-25] Mavs season, and I thought it was a typo when I saw prices for my tickets went up 50 percent," LetsGoMavs wrote. "I called my rep, and they said the prices for the '24-25 season have gone up. When I asked about the Loyalty Pricing, they said that was no longer something they did. This means that many loyal fans who have supported the team for years will have to pay the full price or give up their seats."

Much of the social-media rage from Mavs fans has come on X, though. One account wrote that their season ticket prices have increased by 27 percent. They also wrote that the Mavs have done away with loyalty pricing for fans who are season ticket holders.

Another account had a similar story, as they said their season-ticket prices had gone up by over 25 percent for next season and that they didn't get a warning of the price increase.

Another X account posted a screenshot of a direct message they received from a Mavs fan that gave a warning beforehand that season-ticket prices were going to skyrocket. That fan said the price for their season-tickets had increased by 37 percent.

The Adelson and Dumont family bought a 70-percent stake in the franchise from Mark Cuban in December. Outside of owning the Mavs and hiking up season-ticket prices, Miriam Adelson is a shareholder of Las Vegas Sands Corp and her son-in-law, Patrick Dumont, is the president and chief operating officer.

Heading into this season, the Mavs already had one of the more expensive tickets in the NBA with the 11th-highest average price at $249 to attend a game, according to Sportskeeda. One could figure that average will increase for next season as well.

With the Mavs making progress toward a playoff spot behind Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving's stellar play, a price increase for season tickets isn't completely out of left field. However, a courteous heads-up from the Dumont and Adelson family could have potentially prevented a lot of Mavs fans' backlash.

It doesn't take too much to make fans happy. They want their favorite teams to be committed to winning, have a good gameday experience and be somewhat prepared for price increases. With this seemingly being the first big move from new ownership, it might take Mavs fans a while to warm up to the Adelson and Dumont family.
