Mavs LISTEN: Kyrie Irving's LeBron James Trade Plan Isn't Crazy; It's Smart Business

On this episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we talk about why Kyrie Irving's efforts to recruit Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James to the Dallas Mavericks might not be as far-fetched as people think.
In this story:

When it comes to the idea of the Dallas Mavericks pulling off a blockbuster trade for superstar LeBron James, two things can be true at once: 1) the Mavs don't have the trade assets to make a fair deal with the Lakers, and 2) James could potentially force L.A.'s hand if he decides he wants to form a 'Big 3' with Luka Doncic and Irving.

The NBA is a superstar-driven league, and those players typically end up getting what they desire. Look at this year's trade deadline as the latest example, as both Irving and Kevin Durant asked for a trade from the Brooklyn Nets, and the Nets obliged them. It's not always about what team has the best trade package. A lot of the time, it's what the superstar wants. And if James wants the Mavs, he's going to find a way to get to the Mavs.

On this episode of the Mavs Step Back Podcast, we discuss Irving recruiting James, and why the idea of Dallas pulling off a trade for the NBA's all-time leading scorer isn't as far-fetched as many people might think. We also dive into some NBA Draft talk and what the Mavs might do with the No. 10 pick. The draft gets underway on June 22, and free agency will happen eight days later on June 30, when the Mavs hope to re-sign Irving to a new contract.
