Shooting Following Nuggets’ NBA Finals Win Leaves Several People Injured

In this story:
The Denver Nuggets won their first NBA championship in franchise history on Monday night. Jubilation flooded the inside of Ball Arena, as the home fans celebrated their Finals MVP Nikola Jokic delivering their city a title. However, the celebration outside the arena was unfortunately dampened by a shooting that took place.
“Nine people were injured, including three critically, in a shooting in Denver near the arena where the Nuggets won their first NBA title on Monday night, police said,” ABC News wrote.
“A suspect, who was also shot, was in custody, the Denver Police Department said in a statement. The suspect's injuries were believed to have been non-life threatening, police said.”
Although it’s great to hear that there have currently been no casualties from this situation, it’s a shame that unnecessary gun violence had to take away some of the Nuggets’ post-Finals spotlight. Denver is expected to have its championship parade on Thursday, and after this incident, it would be safe to say that security will be even more alert than usual.
With the Finals ending, the NBA as a whole will now shift all focus to the offseason with the draft commencing on June 22 and free agency opening on June 30. Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks have a lot to do in order to reach the level that Jokic’s Nuggets have displayed throughout the postseason, and DallasBasketball.com will be here to keep you updated on everything that happens throughout the summer.
