DALLAS - Kristaps Porzingis' self-evaluation after his Dallas Mavericks' home preseason debut, a 118-111 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks: "I'm trying to figure out how to fit in the system.''

Porzingis demonstrated his tantalizing talent at the AAC, on display especially when he jousted with NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo. (Game story here). But while "The Greek Freak'' treated this like a meaningful game that showed him in midseason form (34 points and 11 rebounds in 24 minutes), the former Knicks star Porzingis struggled a bit, especially with his shot, finishing with 11 points but on 4-of-13 shooting, plus five rebounds and three assists.

"I just missed too many open shots,'' KP said. "It would look way different if I hit a few shots early and get in a better rhythm. On the other hand, there are a lot more things I can do if I not making shots. I just have to, like, organize everything in my mind ... And slowly, we'll figure it out. ... We'll get this thing together and we'll be alright.''
