After going down by as much as 21 in the first frame against the Chicago Bulls, the Brooklyn Nets emerged from the depths and came out firing unconsciously.

As a result, Sunday night concluded in history as the scoring explosion marked the Nets to tally the best three-point shooting performance by a team this season. With 25 three-pointers made, the Nets pulled away and etched a resilient 118-109 victory over the helpless Bulls team.

Both Royce O'Neale and Lonnie Walker IV led the barrage with six treys each, while Mikal Bridges, Dorian Finney-Smith and Spencer Dinwiddie also did their part with their 10 combined three-pointers.

Sizzling hot

In the postgame of their spectacular offensive show, Jacque Vaughn delivered his proud appreciation of what his Nets team managed to demonstrate in front of the sold-out crowd in the Barclays Center.

The Nets just came up short of beating what the 2020-21 team established in the franchise treys made with 27 in count, against the Sacramento Kings. Nevertheless, coach Vaughn couldn't ask for a much greater display from his team.

“I’ve been a part of some interesting games along the way,” he said. “I’ll tell you that much. To string the threes together was extremely impressive. Not sure I can remember any game like that.

“And for you to come out winning and for you to start the way we did, my years are adding up though.”

Live by the 3, and win

In the end, even though he's pretty much disappointed in what his team fumbled down the line, Chicago Bulls head coach Billy Donovan aired his good regards about the Nets’ scorching hot shooting from the field.

The Nets have been living with three-point shots as their primary weapon, ranked No. 4 in the league in terms of accuracy (.385%) as of writing. As such, Donovan can only tip his hat off about the Nets’ laser-focused shooting that torched his team this weekend.

“Obviously 25 threes is a lot of threes,” Donovan said. “It’s hard to overcome when a team makes 25 threes. Give them credit. They were shots that they made through good ball movement, good offense by them to find those other shots that we probably didn’t communicate well enough and didn’t contest well enough. So it probably lies somewhere in the middle there. I know there’s a lot more that we could have done.”
