Mikal Bridges created a solid reputation for himself as one of the best perimeter defenders in the NBA when he was with the Phoenix Suns. Now, that he is with the Brooklyn Nets, Bridges has become more of an offensive standout, but he still has some strong defensive skills.

The Villanova product is acknowledged as one of the premier perimeter defenders in the league, and as such, he has faced numerous superstar talents.

But when matched against Stephen Curry, one of the NBA's most outstanding offensive players, Mikal, like many defenders, has encountered difficulties.

“You’re so locked in on defense on the ball… You’re guarding any superstar, especially Steph, you’re locked in. He got the ball, you’re zoned in, you’re locked in,” Bridges said. “It’s just like that guarding him off-ball… That makes them just so much more lethal because you’re used to guarding this dude for 10 to 12 seconds, up and top the key, but they pass the ball and go away. The second you relax and you look and what’s happening on the other side of the court, he’s gone.”

Steph Curry does not get tired

Chef Curry is one of the best offensive players in NBA history and most people attribute it to his shooting ability. Of course, while that is true, an underrated part of his game is his constant movement. Every time he gives up the ball, you can expect him to keep moving around the court to relocate and get open looks.

That can’t be defended consistently because the Warriors have made it a big part of their system. Steph usually gives it to Draymond Green and when he wiggles around and gets open, you know the ball will come back to him eventually for him to shoot. And most of the time - score.

Mikal has continued to learn from guarding stars

In his six seasons in the league, Mikal has continued to improve as one of the best defenders in the league.

Despite taking on increased offensive responsibilities, he remains committed to defending the other team's best player, and contesting every shot to the best of his ability.

Mikal's prowess as a scorer, particularly in the mid-range, has become apparent. Anticipate him evolving into one of the most elite players on both ends of the court in the years ahead, driven by his commitment to learning from the elite.
