The Nets end their losing streak with a win over the Detroit Pistons

The Brooklyn Nets have finally ended their losing streak against the struggling Detroit Pistons.

After going through a rough five-game losing streak, coach Jacque Vaughn and the Nets are back in the win column as they got a 126-115 win over the Detroit Pistons. This defeat has sent the Pistons to a 26-game losing streak, which will be a motivation for the next game on December 26th.

Mikal Bridges finally had his bounce-back game with 29 points, six rebounds, and seven assists. Cameron Thomas and Cameron Johnson had decent outings and chipped in with 20 and 18 points, respectively. Brooklyn had seven players scoring in double figures, cementing a superb streak-busting game.

“The schedule presents as is; we lost too many games in a row, so for us, tonight was all about getting a win and getting back to doing the right things on the floor to earn the win,” Coach Vaughn said in his interview.

The Nets had a solid start to the game

The worrying trend over the past few games has been the Nets’ struggles to start the game. That was not an issue for the Pistons game as they dominated the first quarter 32-21. This set the tone for the rest of the game as Brooklyn cruised to a victory without giving up the lead.

Aside from Mikal and the two Cams scoring, the rest of the team played well. Nic Claxton had 11 points and two blocks/steals apiece, while Day’Ron Sharpe and Dorian Finney-Smith boosted the bench with their offensive contributions.

Conversely, the Pistons had a decent second quarter and kept in step, but that was not enough. Three players scored 20+ points for the Pistons, which were Jaden Ivey with 23, Cade Cunningham with 22, and Isaiah Stewart with 20. Bojan Bogdanovic was not far behind with 19 points, but the rest of the team struggled again.

Brooklyn has the momentum for the next game

The next game for both teams is against each other again, but this time, it will be at Little Ceasars Arena in the Motor City. That won’t be an easy game for the Nets because the Pistons are desperate to end this embarrassing losing streak. They already know how Brooklyn plays, and coach Monty Williams will make some adjustments.

Brooklyn should not be complacent even though they already won this matchup. The next game will be challenging because the Pistons are coming with more comfort playing at home while having the knowledge from this game and applying it to the upcoming matchup.
