Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokić was named the recipient of the NBA's Michael Jordan Trophy as the league's Most Valuable Player for the 2023-24 season, the league announced on Wednesday.

The Nuggets center received the voting edge over fellow finalists Luka Dončić and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Jokić received 79 first-place votes and recorded a total of 926 points via the voting process. Gilgeous-Alexander was the runner-up, securing 15-first place votes and 640 points. Dončić had four first-place votes and 566 points. Giannis Antetokounmpo was the only other player to receive a first-place vote.

Jokić has now taken home the award in three of the last four seasons—he finished runner-up to Joel Embiid in 2022-23—and becomes just the ninth player in league history to win MVP three or more times. He joins an elite group consisting of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (6), Michael Jordan (5), Bill Russell (5), Wilt Chamberlain (4), LeBron James (4), Larry Bird (3), Magic Johnson (3) and Moses Malone (3).

This season, Jokić recorded 26.4 points, 12.4 rebounds and 9.0 assists per game while leading Denver to the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
