The Indiana Pacers will be represented by All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton at the NBA Draft Lottery on Tuesday.

The NBA announced the lottery representative for each of the 14 involved teams on Monday, and it confirmed that Haliburton will be on stage for Indiana. Marc Stein of The Stein Line reported that the guard would represent the Pacers last week.

Indiana has the seventh-best odds to win the lottery or jump into the top-four of the draft order after winning a pre-lottery tiebreaker over the Washington Wizards. They have a 6.8% chance at the first overall pick and just under a 30% chance in total at moving into the first quartet of selections.

The Pacers could use some luck. Jumping up to the number one pick would land them the chance to pick Victor Wembanyama, and they have only moved up via the lottery once in franchise history — they climbed from seventh to second back in 1988.

The franchise will hope Haliburton can bring luck. Last year, assistant general manager Kelly Krauskopf was the team's lottery representative, and they fell from fifth to sixth in the draft order. In the end, they ended up with Bennedict Mathurin, which worked out great as he made first team All-Rookie.

Haliburton is a partner with the Pacers franchise, and he will be given some say on decisions going forward. "Ty is our guy," President of Basketball Operations Kevin Pritchard said last month. Now, as a partner, he will be the team's lottery representative, and he will be shown on the broadcast when the team's draft position is announced. There is a slightly better than 55% chance that Indiana finishes seventh or eighth in the post-lottery draft order.

The NBA also announced that Pritchard will be the Pacers representative in the room where the lottery drawing actually takes place. Last year, they were represented by general manager Chad Buchanan.

As it stands, Indiana has five picks in the 2023 draft, though the exact location of all five won't be known until the lottery is complete. They likely are not going to use all five selections, though. The Pacers have payoff goals next season, and bringing in multiple youngsters would make that more difficult.

With Haliburton leading the way, Indiana has a shot at significant improvement next season. Winning the draft lottery would accelerate the team's build and put them on the track toward the postseason again.
