Former Fort Wayne Mad Ants and Indiana Pacers guard David Stockton joins G League Ignite

Stockton was in the Pacers organization last season

Former Indiana Pacers and Fort Wayne Mad Ants guard David Stockton is moving from the Pacers organization to join the G League Ignite.

The Ignite announced the acquisition of Stockton on Monday. On top of Stockton, the program also added veterans Jeremy Pargo and Admon Gilder. Pargo is the brother of Pacers assistant coach Jannero Pargo.

"We have a great group of veterans who can help accelerate the growth and development of our young players both on and off the court," Ignite head coach Jason Hart said in a team-issued statement. The Ignite also revealed that they are bringing back vets John Jenkins and Eric Mika.

Stockton holds two seasons of NBA experience and has six appearances at the pro level. He signed with the Pacers last summer ahead of training camp, but he was waived before camp and the preseason even started.

He ended up with Indiana's G League affiliate squad in Fort Wayne, where he frequently started at point guard. He averaged 12.4 points and 8.4 assists per game for the Mad Ants across 36 games.

"Really just come in and have fun and do this one more year. I saw the roster coming in and it's just super talented, obviously," Stockton said of the Mad Ants just before last season.

He missed some time with the Mad Ants to play for Team USA in World Cup qualifying matches. Jim Byolen, an assistant with the blue and gold, was the head coach. Team USA made the World Cup, and Pacers All-Star Tyrese Haliburton is now suiting up for the United States.

Stockton is the son of NBA legend John Stockton. "I was able to watch him play as I was taking basketball a lot more seriously as a young player. Ever since, I've just had a wealth of knowledge, a free encyclopedia of what it is to be a pro," David said of his dad. Now, he will carry that knowledge to the Ignite program.
