Pelicans' Guard Herb Jones Snubbed From NBA All-Defensive Team

The second-year guard from Alabama has yet to appear on an NBA Defensive Team.

New Orleans, LA- The NBA announced its All-Defensive First and Second Team selections on Tuesday. Most notably, New Orleans Pelicans guard Herb Jones is not amongst the ten players selected. Jones received 15 second-team votes, but that was nowhere near the amount needed to be on the team.

Jones is the Pelicans' best defender, yet he gets snubbed for the second straight year. New Orleans finished No. 6 in the NBA in defense, and Jones led them in a few defensive categories, including steals and deflections. He led everyone in voting for charges drawn this season.

While Herb has yet to garner league-wide respect from writers and prognosticators, his peers and teammates certainly respect his value. Larry Nance, Jr, and Trey Murphy III quickly went to social media to voice their displeasure with the results. Let's not forget what 8-time All-Star and 4-Time Defensive All-NBA player Paul George recently said about Herb Jones on his Podcast P show.

George isn't the only one who's sung Jones' praises for his defensive prowess. Guys like Donovan Mitchell have quickly recognized Jones' ability and given him credit. We'll have to wait for the rest of the league to see what everyone else sees on the court.

Wednesday night, the league will unveil its All-NBA teams, before the final week of awards voting wraps up with the presentation of the Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year award Thursday afternoon.
