Potential Pistons Draft Pick Draws Big NBA Presence in Finale

In this story:
With the 2024 NBA Draft inching closer, one international draft prospect offered teams a chance to get one last look at him during the Perth Wildcats’ regular-season finale.
Alexandre Sarr, the 18-year-old French big man, had a “significant audience” of NBA executives checking him out over the weekend, according to ESPN’s Jonathan Givony.
Sarr had himself a solid performance, as he produced 17 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two blocks in 21 minutes of action.
With the regular season finale in the bag, Sarr finishes with 24 games played. He averaged 17 minutes on the court. The big man attempted just seven shots per game but averaged ten points on an efficient 52 percent from the field.
While the number and identities of NBA teams sending eyes to check out Sarr have not been revealed, you can bet the Detroit Pistons have been keeping tabs on the seven-footer.
Pistons Select International Prospect in Mock Draft
As Detroit anticipates gaining another high-end pick in the upcoming draft, Sarr is a player who’s expected to be near or at the top of many teams’ draft boards.
Sarr is set to join the NBA after a run with Perth, but he has experience playing in the United States. In 2021, Sarr joined the Overtime Elite league for two seasons. His most recent run featured an average state line of 11 points, six rebounds, two assists, and one block per game.
While OTE is still a fairly new pathway to the NBA, the Pistons are no strangers to dipping into that pool of players. During the 2023 NBA Draft, the Pistons spent their fifth-overall pick on Ausar Thompson, a two-time OTE Champion.
There is still a lot of time before the Pistons finalize their big board for the 2024 draft, but Sarr is a name to keep an eye on this summer.
