The Detroit Pistons return to the court on Thursday night to host the Brooklyn Nets. Leading up to the matchup, the Nets have a crowded injury report, headlined by several key players.

On Thursday morning, the Nets revealed an update on the status of the three-time All-Star guard, Ben Simmons. Although Simmons was already slated to miss the matchup in Detroit, the Nets noted that Simmons will remain out for the remainder of the 2023-2024 NBA season.

Here’s what the Nets revealed in a press release:

“Ben Simmons will remain out for the remainder of the season while he consults with specialists and explores treatment options for the nerve impingement in his lower back. Simmons, along with his representatives and Nets medical personnel, are currently in discussions with numerous experts to determine the course of action that will provide him with the best opportunity for long-term sustainable health.”

Simmons isn’t the only key player on Brooklyn’s injury report for Thursday night.

The veteran forward Cam Johnson was downgraded after seeing his night get cut short on Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers. Johnson checked in for fewer than nine minutes before he went down with an ankle injury.

After getting diagnosed with a sprain, Johnson was ruled out against the Pistons.

Cam Thomas is another significant name on the injury report. Lately, the veteran scorer has been dealing with an ankle/midfoot sprain, according to the injury report. As a result, Thomas is out for the night. The Pistons matchup on Thursday marks the sixth-straight game he’ll miss.

The Nets are also facing a potential absence from the veteran guard, Lonnie Walker. Although Walker’s been healthy and available for the last 11 games, an illness could have him sidelined on Thursday. As of Thursday afternoon, Walker is questionable to play.

The Pistons and the Nets are set to tip off at 7 PM ET.
