Jayson Tatum’s Injury Report Status for Pistons-Celtics

UPDATE: Jayson Tatum has been ruled out for Monday's game against the Pistons.

Monday’s game between the Boston Celtics and the Detroit Pistons will feature two teams heading into the second matchup of a back-to-back set.

For the Pistons, they took on the Miami Heat on Sunday afternoon. While it was a close matchup for Detroit, who faced a shorthanded Miami team, the Pistons couldn’t overcome the attack of Bam Adebayo and Duncan Robinson. As a result, they lost 104-101.

Meanwhile, the shorthanded Boston Celtics faced the struggling Washington Wizards. Going into Sunday’s matchup, the Celtics anticipated the possibility of missing a trio of core players, as Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, and Kristaps Porzingis were all included on the injury report.

Brown and Porzingis didn’t get the nod to take on the Wizards, but Tatum was cleared for action. Despite dealing with a right ankle impingement, Tatum managed to play for 27 minutes on Sunday. In the process of a Wizards beatdown, Tatum scored 30 points while dishing out six assists.

The Celtics went on to defeat the Wizards 130-104.

Boston won’t get much time to rest to begin the new week. They’ll get back on their home court to host the Pistons.

Tatum remains on the injury report for the matchup, and his status to play isn't as sure as last night. According to the Celtics, Tatum is questionable for Monday's game against Detroit as he deals with a lingering ankle impingement.

It’s been a while since Tatum has missed action for Boston. The last time he sat our was against the Indiana Pacers on January 8. Since then, Tatum has appeared in 31 games in a row. Over that time, he averaged 35 minutes on the court, producing 27 points per game with eight rebounds and five assists. Taking eight threes per night, Tatum is drilling 39 percent of his shots from beyond the arc during that stretch.

The Pistons and the Celtics are set to battle it out at 7:30 PM ET on Monday.
