With a little added motivation, thanks to chants from a hostile Detroit Pistons crowd, Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic put together a dominant overall showing this past weekend.

Heading into the game, the Mavericks considered Doncic questionable to play as he dealt with an elbow sprain. After going through his pregame warmups, the All-Star was cleared for action and checked in for a 37-minute shift against Detroit.

A slow start for the veteran wasn’t enough for the Pistons to take advantage. Once Doncic hit his stride, the Pistons’ defense didn’t stand a chance.

Taking 24 shots from the field, the star guard knocked down 54 percent of his attempts. He came one point shy of scoring 40 for the first time since last month. And thanks to a stat line of 39-10-10, Doncic scored yet, another triple-double, which marked six in a row.

Doncic made history in Detroit, becoming the first player to notch six 30-point triple-doubles in a row. When he capped off his performance against the Pistons, Doncic was hit with a weekly award for his efforts in Dallas’s previous few games.

The NBA announced on Monday that Doncic was crowned the Western Conference Player of the Week. Over the Mavs’ previous three games, Doncic helped them to a 2-1 record while averaging 38 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Dallas’s superstar didn’t stop on Monday night, either. Returning to the court to face the Chicago Bulls after taking care of business on the road against the Pistons, Doncic once again helped the Mavericks to a blowout victory, taking down the Bulls with a 127-92 win.

While Doncic didn’t score over 30, he still collected a triple-double in the victory, as he produced 27 points, 12 rebounds and 14 assists.
