Raptors vs. Pistons: RJ Barrett’s Injury Report Status Revealed

When the Detroit Pistons host the Toronto Raptors on Wednesday night, they’ll take on a shorthanded squad that’s dealing with a crowded injury report.

As expected, the Raptors will miss the young All-Star Scottie Barnes. As Barnes fractured his hand last week, the veteran is facing a potential rest-of-season recovery timeline. Therefore, Barnes will not be on board to face the Pistons.

Another key player on the injury report is one of Toronto’s trade acquisitions this season, RJ Barrett. Due to personal reasons, Barrett is expected to miss Wednesday’s game in Detroit as he’s already been ruled out for the night.

Earlier this season, the Raptors agreed to a swap of key role players. By sending OG Anunoby to the New York Knicks, the Raptors acquired a package centered around the standout guard Immanuel Quickley, along with Barrett.

The Pistons were nearly the first team to get a crack at the new-look Raptors back in late December. Slated for a December 30 matchup in Detroit, the Raptors waited for a game before rolling out Barrett and Quickley.

The following game, Barrett made his Toronto debut against the Cleveland Cavaliers. He started for a 29-minute shift at the time, draining 50 percent of his shots and scoring 19 points. He nearly notched a double-double as he came down with nine rebounds as well.

Since then, Barrett has 27 total appearances with the Raptors this year. During his stint so far, the veteran averaged 34 minutes on the floor. He’s been shooting efficiently from the field, knocking down 55 percent of his shots. From three, Barrett is averaging 42 percent on 3.8 attempts per game.

When healthy, Barrett is good for 21 points, six rebounds, and four assists per game with the Raptors. Unfortunately for Toronto, they won’t have Barrett around to follow up on his 26-point showing on the road against the Denver Nuggets recently.

Instead, the veteran will miss his second game in three outings, marking his sixth absence since debuting with the Raptors this year.
