In this story:
The Houston Rockets are inching closer to the 2023-24 season. Now that the schedule is out, the Rockets can mark their calendars and circle some key games ...
Here are five that catch our eye ...
1) Season Opener vs. Magic - Wed, Oct. 25
The long offseason comes to an end when the Rockets travel to central Florida to face the Orlando Magic.
Jabari Smith Jr. faces off against 2022 No. 1 overall pick Paolo Banchero in their second season debuts.
2) Home Opener vs. Warriors - Sun, Oct. 29
Even though the era of the Rockets and the Warriors meeting in the playoffs may be over, the rivalry still looms. And in the first game at Toyota Center this season, Stephen Curry and the Warriors are in town.
3) NBA Cup Games - November
The Houston Rockets will play their first In-Season tournament contest of Group B on Nov. 10 against the New Orleans Pelicans inside the Toyota Center.
The Rockets will then travel to Los Angeles for a match against the Clippers on Nov. 17. The team will return to Houston for a contest against the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 24. The Rockets will close the preliminary round on the road against the Dallas Mavericks on Nov. 28.
4) Amen vs. Ausar - Mon, Jan. 1
The Rockets will ring in the new year with the first-ever meeting between Amen and Ausar Thompson when the Detroit Pistons come to town for their annual visit to Toyota Center.
The Thompson twins became the first pair of brothers to both be drafted top-five in the same NBA Draft.
5) Rockets vs. Harden? - Mon, Jan. 15
In one of the final nationally-televised games the Rockets have this season, Houston visits the Philadelphia 76ers in the City of Brotherly Love on MLK Day.
It remains to be seen whether point guard James Harden will be in uniform for the Sixers after he requested a trade this summer and called Daryl Morey a liar at his basketball camp in China.
