Rockets’ Injury Report Leaves Team Weak vs. Warriors

In this story:
Tonight, the Houston Rockets will take on the Golden State Warriors in NBA Cup play, hoping to get back on track in the league's in-season tournament.
Despite being 11-4 on the season, two of the Rockets' losses have come in Cup play, meaning they have an uphill battle ahead of them to make the Final. The Warriors stand at a similar 1-2 through three Cup games, and will be looking to do the same.
The Trail Blazers and Nuggets currently lead West Group C at just 2-1, meaning all hope is not lost for Houston, though tonight's injury report is sure to have an effect on their chances.
Here are the injury reports for both Houston and Golden State ahead of tonight’s game:
Houston Rockets injuries:
Steven Adams — Out: Right ankle
Kevin Durant — Out: Personal reasons
Tari Eason — Out: Right oblique
Dorian Finney-Smith — Out: Left ankle
Kevon Harris — Out: G League
Fred VanVleet — Out: Right knee
Golden State Warriors injuries:
Draymond Green — Probable: Right midfoot
Al Horford — Out: Right sciatic nerve
Jonathan Kuminga — Out: Bilateral knee
De’Anthony Melton — Out: Left ACL
The Rockets will be without several players tonight, most notably superstar Kevin Durant, who’s quickly added his scoring punch in Houston after being acquired in the offseason.
So far, Durant has scored 24.6 points per game on 49% shooting, looking like one of the best duos in basketball in tandem with Alperen Sengun. He sat out versus Phoenix, and will be out against tonight due to personal reasons.
The Rockets will also be without major contributors in Tari Eason, Steven Adams and Fred VanVleet, who is likely to miss the entire season after suffering an ACL tear in an offseason workout.
Dorian Finney-Smith has also yet to make his Houston debut after signing wit the team in free agency.
Suffice it to say, all of Durant, Adams, Eason, VanVleet and Finney-Smith would've been vital against Golden State. While the Warriors have somewhat underperformed this season, they're still a formidable opponent with four-time champion Stephen Curry leading the charge in the backcourt.
The Warriors are dealing with injuries of their own, including to contributors in Jonathan Kuminga, Al Horford and De’Anthony Melton, though long-time defensive standout Draymond Green is probable to play tonight.
The Rockets and Warriors tip off at 9 p.m. CT tonight from Chase Center in San Francisco, CA.
