In this story:

1. NBA CUP SCHEDULE The Spurs kick things off by hosting the Minnesota Timberwolves on Nov. 10. Then, they travel to face the Oklahoma City Thunder on Nov. 14.

The Spurs close their NBA Cup games by hosting the Sacramento Kings on Nov. 17 and visiting the Golden State Warriors on Nov. 24.

2. PATIENCE IS KEY "The Spurs chose to be patient in building the franchise around Victor Wembanyama this summer, using their cap space to absorb contracts and collect future draft picks," Bleacher Report wrote. "For now, seeing how Wembanyama fits with this young core and making evaluations from there is the right choice."

3. POP'S EVOLUTION "Pop, in a very rare display, recognized his son and daughter. He even recognized his grandchildren and made them stand and be seen. It further humanized a man who's influence in this community probably won't ever properly be measured."

4. DON NELSON HELPING WILDLIFE VICTIMS Maui, Hawaii is currently experiencing a living nightmare, as devastating wildfires have claimed the lives of at least 99 people so far with that number excepted to rise in the coming days. Although nothing can be done to reverse some of the permanent damage that has been done, handfuls of people are doing what they can to help with relief efforts.

According to the San Francisco Chronicle, former Dallas Mavericks GM and head coach Don Nelson is one of those people, as he’s reportedly opening his Hawaii rental homes in West Maui to victims who have lost their homes and have nowhere to live.

5. JOEL THE TROEL? “Normally this is something not worth batting an eye over. But given how savvy Embiid is about social media, perhaps this is a sign that he may no longer want to call Philadelphia home."
