San Antonio Spurs' Victor Wembanyama Not Making Excuses After Loss vs. LA Clippers

In this story:
The San Antonio Spurs are getting a sniff of reality after losing to the Los Angeles Clippers on Sunday night.
While the team has a lot of potential, which was showcased in Friday's overtime win at home against the Houston Rockets, the team was reminded that it is far from where it wants to be after a 40-point defeat at the hands of the Clippers.
While the Clippers are far more established and talented than the Spurs, No. 1 overall pick Victor Wembanyama isn't making excuses for his team's poor performance.
"Of course, there is a lot of talent in front of us [Clippers] but it shouldn't be an excuse," Wembanyama said after the game on Sunday. "I think there's stuff we can work on."
The Spurs are three games into an 82-game season in which they aren't expected to win much. A 1-2 start isn't a surprise for this team, but Wembanyama and the rest of the Spurs are aware of what this season represents for them.
"I wouldn't see any reason to be frustrated with three games in the new season," Wembanyama said. "It is a learning experience for all of us of course."
The Spurs will keep learning through the wins and losses in hopes that one day they can be the established team beating up on younger squads by double-digits night in and night out.
The Spurs are back in action tonight with another opportunity to learn against Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns. Tipoff is scheduled for 9 p.m. on TNT.
