Legendary Arizona Sports Broadcaster Greg Schulte to Undergo Chemotherapy
Legendary Arizona sports broadcaster Greg Schulte sent the following message to Arizona Diamondbacks fans on Monday evening.
Schulte has been with the Diamondbacks since their inaugural season in 1998, and is the voice behind the Game 7 World Series-winning hit by Luis Gonzalez in 2001. He surpassed over 3,000 games called for the D-backs back in 2017.
"I just knock on wood and hopefully, God lets me do as many as I can possibly do,” he said to the Arizona Republic as he approached the milestone of 3,000 games called. “I’m not going to set a number. I’m not going to a year. But 3,000 games is pretty special and hopefully, we can keep it going and get back to another World Series one day.”
Schulte's fingerprints are all over professional teams across the state of Arizona.
He's produced games for the Phoenix Suns prior to joining Al McCoy as his color commentator. He previously did pre and post-game hosting duties for the Arizona Cardinals while also doing work for Arizona State University as well.
The entire Arizona sports community is behind Schulte during these difficult times.
