Suns to Re-Evaluate Kevin Durant Next Week

The return of Phoenix Suns forward Kevin Durant could return as early as next Thursday after he's re-evaluated, according to ESPN.

The Phoenix Suns are nearing the end of their regular season run with hopes of postseason glory on the horizon. In order to do that, they'll need to be at full strength, something they've yet to really accomplish all season long.

The biggest piece of the puzzle in forward Kevin Durant has played just three games since being acquired at the trade deadline. Durant arrived after the blockbuster deal with a sprained MCL and would eventually sprain his ankle in the warm-ups leading to his home debut.

Speculation has ran on when Durant could potentially return. Some reports suggested he could miss the entirety of the regular season while others prompted a more optimistic return.

During the ESPN broadcast of Phoenix's game against the Los Angeles Lakers, sideline reporter Jorge Sedano revealed that he spoke with Suns head coach Monty Williams - who revealed that Durant would be re-evaluated on Thursday, March 30.

That matches right around the three-week timeframe Phoenix initially put for Durant. Should he be cleared for return on that day, he will have six games left to play before the playoffs start.

The Suns might not be too worried on his eventual return to the court: Phoenix went 3-0 with Durant in the lineup and the duo of him/Devin Booker easily established themselves as one of the top duos in the NBA.

Durant's return isn't helpful for Phoenix's title chances - it's necessary.
