Report: Potential Suns Target Dennis Schroder Joins Lakers

Did the Phoenix Suns miss a golden opportunity to add veteran depth to their backcourt?

The Phoenix Suns nearly have every piece possible.

From a tremendous backcourt to a dominant big man and youthful sprinkled across the roster, the Suns have made tremendous strides from what they once were.

However, like any team still without a ring, there are still a few areas of weakness Phoenix needs to address.

Depth behind Chris Paul and overall scoring off the bench combine to be the greatest Achilles heel in the Valley despite efforts from guys such as Cameron Payne and Landry Shamet. Even newly signed guard Damion Lee may not be the elixir the Suns need.

There was still a surprising name available on the market for the Suns to grab which made perfect sense for both sides, yet that is no longer an option.

On Friday, The Athletic's Shams Charania reported Dennis Schroder would be joining the Los Angeles Lakers on a one-year, $2.64 million deal.

Seeing a talented player like Schroder, who could have helped Phoenix tremendously, join a rival in Los Angeles on a cheap deal undoubtedly hurts the souls of Suns fans.

Yet there's still a few options for veteran guards on the market, as highlighted by Bleacher Report

Are the Suns confident in Duane Washington Jr.? Will Lee show his regular season form in Phoenix like he did for Golden State?

The Lakers may not be done stealing potential Phoenix targets, either. Los Angeles is reportedly in talks to acquire Utah Jazz F Bojan Bogdanovic, a player the Suns reportedly inquired about.

Time is ticking for Phoenix to make a move, if they feel necessary.
