PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns hosted a 90's night, and it sure felt like it once action began.

In front of a sell-out crowd in the Footprint Center, Phoenix's 134-105 win against the defending champion Golden State Warriors featured plenty of physical play. Technical fouls were thrown left and right to players and coaches, and even Klay Thompson was ejected with 6:31 in the third.

Thompson finished with two points on 1-of-8 shooting.

Prior to his ejection, the Warriors managed to hang around with Phoenix despite trailing since the early stages of the game, yet the Suns were able to increase their lead from seven to as much as 21 after his departure.

It was a quiet first half for the splash brothers, as the duo of Thompson and Steph Curry went just 5-of-12 to open play. Phoenix carried a 72-66 lead into halftime despite four different Warriors scoring double digits.

Despite Golden State's shooting prowess, it was the Suns who made the most of their three-point chances in the first two quarters making 9-of-15 (60%) of shots beyond the arc.

"They’ve been able to do it in the regular season, they do it in playoffs and they do it late in the playoffs when you think everything is going to slow down, they play the same way," Monty Williams said before the game.  We feel we can play that way but we’re probably are not as fast as they are.”

After gaining an early lead, the Suns would pace the game the entire rest of the way (despite Golden State making things interesting the entire way) once again on the back of Devin Booker who scored 34 points.

Deandre Ayton also saw an impressive night despite late foul trouble, registering 16 points and 14 rebounds.

In what felt like a playoff atmosphere, the Suns again passed a crucial early season test, this time against a team they'll likely have to face in the postseason in order to find their first championship in franchise history.

That's a long way from now, but Phoenix is 3-1 and have already answered the bell when called upon thus far.
