There's been plenty of notable offseason movement and storylines for the Phoenix Suns.

Directly after their Game 7 meltdown to the Dallas Mavericks to the end of the Kevin Durant saga (with a heavy dose of Deandre Ayton drama in-between) the Suns have been at the forefront of rumors, reports and whispers on what their roster might look like.

Devin Booker recently inked a supermax contract extension, while Jae Crowder still finds himself at the forefront of trade talks.

It's a busy offseason if you're a Suns fan, and especially if you're working for the team in any capacity.

Yet a storyline that has floated behind the scenes has been the status of forward Cameron Johnson and his contract extension. Johnson, set to hit free agency after this season, is hoping to strike a new deal and remain in the Valley.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst said today on "NBA Today" the organization is currently in talks with Johnson to keep him with Phoenix.

"Also they are negotiating, from what I've been told, with Cam Johnson on a contract extension. Now that wouldn't effect this year's salary, that would be for down the line, but it does indicate they're looking to invest long-term in another player and avoid another restricted free agency situation like they had with Deandre Ayton last year."

This is obviously good news for everyone involved, as fans have taken a strong liking to Johnson, and the Suns believe he can continue to make strides on the court.

A few months back, we explored what a potential pay day for Johnson may look like. You can find that here.
