Phoenix Suns v Denver Nuggets

Suns Regain Momentum at Right Time

The Phoenix Suns got back in the victory column.

PHOENIX -- The Phoenix Suns have a new lease on life.

The Suns followed up one of the single worst losses by any team this season with an absolutely impressive and invaluable victory over the Denver Nuggets in which they controlled much of the game.

"It was a competitive response to a tough loss. Nobody was happy with not getting that second game in San Antonio. Our guys were super locked in," Frank Vogel said following the win.

Phoenix was the more physical team, and Nuggets star center Nikola Jokic was once again obtusely uncomfortable against the various sets Vogel was throwing his way. Phoenix took a good amount of three-pointers and hit at a fairly strong rate.

The Suns are also one of two teams (Oklahoma City) to win multiple games in Denver this season.

That is no modest feat - and the Suns have once again asserted themselves as a team that no one wants to play in a seven-game series.

Now is the time to build off of the momentum for good.

The Suns can regain a spot in the top six of the Western Conference standings with a victory against the aforementioned Oklahoma City Thunder and a Dallas Mavericks loss to the Sacramento Kings. Both games are set to be played on Friday.

Phoenix also has a unique opportunity to not only jump Dallas, but could have a shot to regain home-court advantage in the first round - if the right cards fall in place.

The New Orleans Pelicans hold a tenuous lead of 1.5 games over the Suns due to the upcoming matchups with the Milwaukee Bucks and Boston Celtics. A Suns win and two Pelican losses would lead to Phoenix retaking a lead in the stndings - with two head-to-head matchups remaining.

The Los Angeles Clippers have performed poorly as of late on their own accord - and a real collapse would have to happen for Phoenix to catch them - but two head-to-head matchups will almost certainly pose a real challenge that is also attainable at this stage.

Hold your breath, Suns fans. The next two weeks are sure to be full of twists, turns, and fireworks regardless of the final outcome.
