In the current landscape of the NBA, no position seems to be as important and filled with high-level talent as the point guard.

To be a championship contender, teams need a high-level talent at the position, whether it be as the first option or as a complementary piece.

Former point guard and NBA champion Jeff Teague released his own top 10 list of the current point guards in the league via Bleacher Report, and he ranked Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander in the top of the list.

Gilgeous-Alexander landed at No. 4, just behind superstar guards Stephen Curry, Luka Doncic and Damian Lillard.

"He's an absolute bucket," Teague said. "Probably the hardest player to stay in front of in isolation situations one-on-one, I think he's got the nicest bag besides Kyrie."

Gilgeous-Alexander was one of the most efficient players of high-volume scorers last season, scoring 31.4 points per game on 51% field goal shooting and 90.5% from the free throw line. The superstar guard used his offensive bag to get to the basket at will, but was also able to create his own shot incredibly well in isolation.

While Gilgeous-Alexander emerged as a star talent in seasons prior, last season was a massive step up to superstar recognition and MVP consideration.

"I'm excited to see what he can do this year," Teague said. "Last year he was phenomenal, he had my vote for MVP."

An MVP shout-out from Teague is high praise, but not outlandish. Gilgeous-Alexander finished in fifth place last season, but had an argument for the award even if the Thunder did not make the playoffs. He had one of the most impressive stat lines of any player last season, while taking an OKC team to the play-in that had almost zero expectations to come close.

With a further developed Oklahoma City roster and the additions of rookies Chet Holmgren and Cason Wallace, another MVP campaign could once again be on the horizon for Gilgeous-Alexander, in addition to potentially his first playoff appearance since 2020.
