OKC Thunder Star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Can Check A Lot of Boxes This Week

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander can check a lot of boxes this week, from breaking records to making personal history.

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should be the front-runner for the Most Valuable Player Award. One of the best clutch-time performers, on one of the best teams in the NBA and putting up one of the best seasons. This week the OKC Thunder superstar could check a lot of boxes, making personal history and breaking a record.

Gilgeous-Alexander has waltzed his way to 30-plus points nearly every game this season. Posting 31.2 points, 5.6 rebounds, 6.5 assists, a league-best 2.1 steals and a block per game.

So far this season, the 25-year-old has logged his 47th 30-plus point game this season, tying a Thunder record for single-season 30-point games placing his name alongside Kevin Durant.

With 19 games still to play in this regular season, it is nearly impossible to imagine Gilgeous-Alexander not surpassing that mark. This would be a big week to do it as the Thunder will wrap up their home stand with a trio of games Sunday against Memphis, Tuesday against Indiana, and Thursday against Dallas.

While the max contract point guard has consistently turned in 30-point nights, still in his career he has yet to notch 30-plus points against the Pacers, Mavericks, Raptors, and Bucks.

This week, Gilgeous-Alexander has a chance to break the Thunder's single-season record for 30-point games and add two more opponents to his list. Still, to go this season, he will take on the Mavericks twice, Pacers twice, Bucks twice and Raptors once more.

The Oklahoma City Thunder star continues to march toward the Most Valuable Player Award and could continue to legitimize his case this week.
