In this story:

The growth of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is clear, especially this season.

His continued consistent growth into the face of the franchise in Oklahoma City. This includes earning his first NBA All-Star nod.

Gilgeous-Alexander is in the midst of the best season of his career, by far. The Thunder as a team and fan base have seen the growth of SGA firsthand, but this season he has blasted onto the national stage. After multiple seasons of having All-Star caliber performances, but coming up short, he's now gotten the nod.

The chance for Gilgeous-Alexander to play in the All Star Game provides him a chance to continue to mature, grow and continue to spread his name through the national arena.

His can be seen on his stat sheet clearly, but can also be seen in how the Thunder play overall. It’s no surprise that in the midst of Gilgeous-Alexander's best season in his career the Thunder are in the midst of their best season since beginning their rebuild and acquiring him.

The young Canadian guard is now given the chance to spend a weekend with the best players in the league learning the craft deeper and being placed on a national stage for the world to see.

If a player in any sport wants to be a star and be seen in that light the first step is to be where the stars are and that’s the All-Star Game. Gilgeous-Alexander has earned that check and now focuses on continued growth and development as he is only 24 years old.

The trip to the All Star Game provides the chance to mingle with legends of the game, that in a typical season atmosphere isn’t guaranteed. Hall of Famers are ever present during All Star Weekend which provides SGA, and others, the chance to pick their brains on skill sets and other aspects of the game.

Gilgeous-Alexander's growth is clear, but as a young guard he still has room to mature, the All Star Game is the best opportunity to do that.
