OKC Thunder Superstar Takes Home Western Conference Player of the Week

In this story:
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is having an MVP worthy season and should be in the driver seat to take home the honor, especially after this impressive week.
The Oklahoma City Thunder superstar has posted 44.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 6.7 assists and 2.0 stocks per game while shooting 54% from the floor, 40% from beyond the arc and 100% at the charity stripe.
The Thunder went 4-0 this week, 3-0 in the games that Gilgeous-Alexander played in as he rested on Friday against the Portland Trail Blazers marking just the second game the MVP candidate has missed all season.
This week was stamped by a 40 point outing against the Denver Nuggets to help lift the Thunder to a win on ABC during a matinee contest against Nikola Jokic the only other player in contention to win the MVP award.
Oklahoma City has seen Gilgeous-Alexander lead the league in scoring this season with averages of 32.9 points, five rebounds, six assists, and 2.8 stocks per game with shooting splits of 52/37/89.
The Thunder superstar has brought OKC to a 53-11 record this season with 12 games of distance from the No. 2 seed in the Western Conference.
Up next, the OKC Thunder will run it back and take on the Denver Nuggets on Monday. In what will possibly be another MVP showdown if Jokic is upgraded from questionable.
