Standings Update: Thunder Need to Continue Winning Ways to Make Postseason

In this story:
Just a half-game away from being the Western Conference’s 11-seed and first out of the NBA Playoffs, the Thunder are in dire need of wins this week.
Luckily for them, their upcoming slate against the Hornets, Pistons and Pacers is one of the easiest in the league. But with just seven games left in the 2022-23 slate, wins are going to be monumentally important.
Oklahoma City currently sits in the 10th and final spot, good for the Play-In game. They’re a half-game ahead of the Dallas Mavericks, who have seen a cool streak, of late.
Ahead of OKC, the ninth-seeded Lakers have the same 37-38 record, but own the tiebreaker following last week’s win. The New Orleans Pelicans stand one full game ahead in the eight-seed.at 38-37.
The Timberwolves and Warriors, likely the last reachable teams, both stand at 39-37 and the sixth and seventh seeds, respectively.
The only adjacent remaining teams left on Oklahoma City’s schedule are the Golden State Warriors an Utah Jazz, who OKC has built a two-game lead on. But Western Conference matchups versus the Phoenix Suns and Memphis Grizzlies will be equally important to the Thunder's postseason hopes.
For now, the Thunder look to their Shai Gilgeous-Alexander-less matchup at 7 p.m. versus the Hornets in Paycom Center.
