Report: Timberwolves are 'waiting on a buyout player'

The Timberwolves have been heavily linked with a move for Marcus Morris

The Timberwolves are reportedly waiting on a player from the buyout market to fill their final available roster spot.

That's according to Twin Cities sports media veteran Patrick Reusse, who told SKOR North's Mackey & Judd he spent some time with Wolves (current) owner Glen Taylor in Florida, who revealed that the team is "waiting for a buyout guy."

Presumably the 'buyout guy' in question is forward Marcus Morris, who was traded twice at the trade deadline, landing in San Antonio. With the Spurs mired at the bottom of the Western Conference, Morris has been heavily rumored to be bought out by San Antonio.

Morris and former Wolves guard Patrick Beverley were teammates this season in Philadelphia and Beverley stated on his podcast that Morris is "leaning towards" signing with Minnesota. The Athletic's Jon Krawczynski said Tuesday on his own podcast that there is a "good chance" Morris lands in Minnesota after his buyout but that "nothing is imminent."

The 6-foot-8 big man was averaging 6.7 points per game for the 76ers before his trade, that's down from his career average of 12.1 points per game.

The 34-year-old has plenty of playoff experience, playing 67 postseason games across his 13-year career. Players who are bought out need to be signed by March 1 in order to suit up in the postseason for their new club. If a move is going to happen it's going to have take place within the next two weeks.
