It's one of the big questions about a possible NBA return this season: What players could be available to play with a multi-month hiatus? You've had Elton Brand, the general manager of the Sixers, say that Ben Simmons could be available. Kyrie Irving has been on social media saying he's chomping at the bit to get back out there and play.

But the most interesting name that's been put out there continues to be Kevin Durant. Now, it was just under a year ago that Durant suffered a season ending Achilles tear. In Game 5 of the NBA finals for Golden State, that type of injury typically needs maybe 10 months to a year to fully rehabilitate before you're ready to get back out there on the floor. And when you do, generally, it takes a lot longer before you're back to being the player you once were. But the Nets have continued to not rule out Kevin Durant.

Sean Marks, the general manager in Brooklyn, just this week spoke to a New Zealand outfit where he said Durant's return was the $110 million. Question. Now, any other type of injury you would say a player can and maybe should come back for a playoff run. But Durant, his last injury, came from may be coming back a little bit too soon into that Warriors lineup.

So the idea of rushing him back and dropping him right into the most intense atmosphere that's imaginable in basketball. It just doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense. So ultimately, Durant is going to be the one that makes this decision.

Recently, Rich Kleiman, the manager for Kevin Durant, he told me they haven't had that discussion. But even if Durant wants to play, it seems a little risky for the Nets to put him out there on the floor.

This team, its championship window, opens next season when Durant and Kyrie Irving are at full strength when they look like they could be real contenders. This season, it just seems like a lot of risk for probably not a big reward.
