SI's Rohan Nadkarni has been looking for each NBA team's biggest question, and today's is the Oklahoma City Thunder. Sam Presti says they'll need a rebuild eventually, but can it be more of a reload?

The team has been a mainstay in contention for years now despite losing multiple stars to trades or free agency, can they keep that momentum going or will they need to sit with a lottery pick for a few years?

Kaitlin O'Toole: Oklahoma City Thunder have been a big surprise this season, shooting all the way up to number five in conference standings. But Thunder's GM Sam Presti has made it clear that a rebuild is coming eventually. Joining me now is SI's NBA writer, Rohan Nadkarni. Rohan, what is the biggest question for the Thunder moving forward?

Rohan Nadkarni: You know, I think it has to be is there any way that the Thunder can turn what they expect to be rebuild into a reload? This is a team that, for the better part of the last decade has been a conference contender. Are they expected to take a setback this season after trading away Russell Westbrook. Instead they've been right there with the best teams in the West, they're only two and a half games out of the third spot in the conference. You know, it makes sense why Sam Presti would want to rebuild. He's amassing all these draft picks. He's going to want to take his chances in the lottery eventually. But there's part of me that wonders, what if they just kept on Chris Paul for the next couple of years? What if they use those draft picks to acquire some more veterans? Is there any way that this team could avoid having to go the route of the Sixers and be in the lottery for a couple of years and instead remain competitive even after losing two franchise icons in the last five or six seasons?

Kaitlin O'Toole: Yeah, especially because they are, like you said, only two and a half spots away. Rohan, great insight. Thank you so much for this.
