Former Warriors GM Reveals Boston Celtics Tried Trading for Steph Curry

The Boston Celtics wanted Steph Curry from the Golden State Warriors

During an episode of The Woj Pod, former Golden State Warriors GM Bob Myers joined ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski for a discussion that covered several different topics. During the episode, Myers revealed that Danny Ainge tried trading for Steph Curry when he was the Boston Celtics GM, but those talks didn't go very far.

"I never was upset at anybody asking [for Curry]," Myers said. "The GM’s job is to mine for trades. That’s a GM’s job. But [Danny] Ainge was the one that was always asking... We just laughed. Like I said we have a really good relationship. But you know, you got to ask. I mean, everybody knew that wasn’t happening, so it was kind of a good laugh."

Ainge and Myers had a good relationship, and it seems the then Celtics GM knew there was no chance at acquiring Curry from the Warriors, but it was something he had to shoot his shot at. As Myers tells it, the two had a good laugh when Ainge brought Curry's name up, knowing there was no chance of that ever happening.

Curry is one of the few superstars in NBA history who can say they stayed on one team their entire career. He and the Warriors have remained loyal to each other through ups and downs, and that doesn't seem like something that will ever change.
