Steve Kerr Reveals Why Steph Curry Played More Minutes vs. 76ers

Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry played the entire 4th quarter vs. Philly

For the first time all season, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry played the entire fourth quarter in Friday night's win against the Philadelphia 76ers. Curry has had different rotation patterns at times this season, but he usually plays the entire first and third quarters, while returning with around six minutes remaining in the second and fourth quarters.

Curry has had a bit of a different rotation pattern since returning from injury, but playing the entire fourth quarter was certainly a first for him. When asked after the game why Curry play the entire fourth quarter, Steve Kerr said, "It felt like such a big game for us. Every game is big, but we knew Steph was on track for 38 minutes. He didn’t look tired and he told us he felt fine, so we stayed with him."

The Warriors finished the quarter as a +17, defeating a very good 76ers team for a much needed win. As Kerr mentioned, this was a very important game - as is every game the Warriors are playing at this point, which added to the increased urgency.

The Warriors have won three-straight games, and when combined with a three-game losing streak from the Phoenix Suns, Golden State sits just one percentage point behind Phoenix for the fifth seed. Technically tied with Phoenix at 11 games back from first, the Warriors have a real opportunity to crack into the fourth or fifth seed in the Western Conference. This once seemed incredibly improbable, especially with Golden State's prolonged road struggles, but the Warriors have stuck with it all season, and now have an opportunity to optimize their seeding down the stretch.
