Dwight Howard Shares Cryptic Message After Disappointing Warriors News

In this story:
It was announced by Shams Charania of The Athletic that the Golden State Warriors will not be signing Dwight Howard prior to training camp. This report came after several others that suggested Howard would be joining Golden State, so the update from Charania was a disappointing one.
While this development does not shut the door on Howard joining the Warriors at some point, it at least puts that on pause. Sharing a cryptic message following the news, Howard posted this Tweet:
Only as a WARRIOR can one withstand the path of knowledge. A WARRIOR cannot complain or regret anything. His life is an endless challenge. And challenges cannot possibly be good or bad. Challenges are simply challenges. 💯 🫵🏾 go be GR8
— Dwight Howard (@DwightHoward) September 23, 2023
It's important to note that Howard Tweets regularly, and often in cryptic messaging like this; however, it's hard not to notice him write "Warrior" in all caps twice. It was an interesting Tweet from the veteran center, who now may or may not be joining Golden State.
As Charania reported, the Warriors want to maintain their flexibility throughout camp, which makes sense. Rather than locking in their final roster spots, Golden State recognizes there could be a lot of player movement still to come between now and opening night, which could present opportunities that are not currently there. Perhaps Howard does end up being signed by the Warriors after camp, but as of right now that seems to be on pause.
It's also worth mentioning that the Warriors likely know what they'd be getting in Howard, so perhaps they're using camp to look at other options they're less familiar with.
