The Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Love are finalizing a contract buyout that will give him the opportunity to become a free agent and choose a new team. The Athletic's Shams Charania reported the news, writing, "The Cleveland Cavaliers and Kevin Love are finalizing a contract buyout, with the Miami Heat expected to emerge as a suitor for the five-time All-Star should the sides finalize parting ways, league sources tell The Athletic."

With the Miami Heat as the only team named in Charania's initial report, it seems likely that they should be the frontrunners to sign Love; however, other teams have recently been linked to the veteran forward.

In a report from Sam Amico of Hoops Wire, the Los Angeles Lakers and Golden State Warriors were named as teams that could have interest in Love. For the Lakers, there is of course the connection with Love and LeBron James, as the two helped bring the Cleveland Cavaliers a championship in 2016. For the Warriors, Love would provide some additional championship experience, along with his ability to rebound the basketball and stretch the floor.

Love's floor stretching ability as a big man is largely what has made him so valuable throughout his career, but there are some concerns with his ability to still do that at an elite level. Shooting just 35.4% from deep on the season, and just 22.9% from deep since the calendar turned to 2023, Love's most valuable attribute has been mostly absent.

It will be interesting to see where the veteran forward lands, but the Warriors and Lakers are reportedly teams to keep an eye on.
