Steph Curry Admits Honest Reality for Warriors

Prior to their 2015 title, the Golden State Warriors were still an up and coming group. Sent home by the LA Clippers in the first round in 2014, Golden State responded with a vengeance the following season, which began their dynasty run. From that moment until Kevin Durant left, the Warriors were widely expected to run the NBA.

Those expectations cooled off once Durant joined the Brooklyn Nets, and Klay Thompson suffered two major injuries. Missing the playoffs in 2020 and 2021, the Warriors were a sleeping giant entering the 2022 season for really the first time since 2015.

Winning another championship in 2022, the Warriors proved they're still a force, and can no longer be written off. That said, they took a step back last season, falling to the Los Angeles Lakers in the second round. Because of this, Steph Curry recently admitted on an episode of Gil's Arena that the Warriors are back to being the hunters as opposed to the hunted.

"Three core guys trying to keep proving people wrong that we still have what it takes," Curry said. "We're the hunter now, not the hunted, and we're trying to embrace that energy."

Curry added, "I think the biggest thing is the notion that you always want to be the team that everyone picks, that’s a good spot to be in, but if you’re in that group of six to eight teams that legitimately has a shot, in terms of the experience, the cohesiveness, the sense of identity of how you play the game. If you’re in that conversation, you hope for health, you hope for people to continue to play at the level they need to, then you get to the playoffs and it’s just a roll of the dice to see what happens."
