Warriors Meeting With Eight-Time NBA All-Star

In this story:
It was reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic that the Golden State Warriors are meeting with eight-time NBA All-Star Dwight Howard. Golden State has been active in seeking a veteran big man to round out their roster, and Howard would certainly fit that role.
In a video shared by Stadium, Charania detailed what this meeting is expected to look like, and said high level decision makers for the Warriors will be in attendance, including players. As Charania noted, the Warriors want to ensure that Howard is willing to buy into a veteran leadership role, even as his role on the court might fluctuate.
“I’m told Dwight Howard will meet with Warriors team officials here soon, those meetings will include decision-makers…”

While it's unclear if Howard will be the veteran big the Warriors sign, it does seem that the 2022 NBA champions will be rounding out their roster with a player who fits in that category. Somewhat thin up front, the Warriors can always use injury or foul trouble insurance for Draymond Green and Kevon Looney. A player like Howard could be a nice addition in that role.
Also looking to pivot away from their youth movement, the Warriors no longer seem willing to bet on contributions from unproven young players. While steps forward from some of their youth would be welcomed, it seems the Warriors are building this roster with the understanding that unproven young players cannot always contribute to contenders.
