Warriors Set Terrible Record in Loss to Thunder

The Golden State Warriors lost another close game to the Oklahoma City Thunder on Friday night, again allowing overtime after leading by three points in the final seconds. As Chet Holmgren was going up for a game tying three, Draymond Green reached in and fouled him, sending Holmgren to the line for three free throws. Holmgren made all three, and Steph Curry missed the game winner on the other end which forced overtime.

Falling in OT, the Warriors were outplayed by OKC in that extra period, which resulted in another disappointing loss. While there is a lot to break down in the final minute of regulation and of course the overtime period, it was Golden State's carelessness with the ball throughout the game that was the biggest story in this one.

Per Anthony Slater of The Athletic, the Warriors set a Steve Kerr era record with their 29 turnovers in this game. Not only were these 29 turnovers a record for the Kerr era, they were the most Golden State has had in a game since 2002:

The Warriors' 29 turnovers tonight were the most in the Steve Kerr era. Their previous high was 27. This is their most as a franchise since February of 2002.

It is almost impossible to win in the NBA when turning the ball over that many times, and especially against a very good team like the Thunder. The Warriors learned that the hard way in this one, as they dropped another winnable game.
