The Washington Wizards (3-19) are facing the New Orleans Pelicans (13-11) in the first game of a two-game home stint. This game will be the first of two matchups between New Orleans and Washington this season.

Daniel Gafford Takes Charge Against The Pelicans

In the last six matchups between the Wizards and Pelicans it has been split three wins a piece. The Wizards won the last match 113-103. Daniel Gafford led the way with a team-high 21 points and 12 rebounds for the Wizards. Former Wizard Bradley Beal scored 16 points, Deni Avdija (15 points) and former wizards Kendrick Nunn had 12 points help push the Wizards to the win.

For the Pelicans, CJ McCollum scored a game-high 24 points with five rebounds. Brandon Ingram scored 22 points and grabbed six rebounds in the lost.

If the Wizards want to win this one, they will need to stop Brandon Ingram. You are probably wondering what about Zion Williamson? Well the Wizards haven’t faced Williamson since 2021 and with his recent issues and injuries we don’t know which Zion we may see. Also, Williamson is currently questionable in this game with an ankle injury so that could also prevent us from seeing what he could do vs the Wizards.

Since April 2021, Ingram has averaged 29.0 points per game and 5.8 rebounds per game vs. Washington. If the Wizards want to win, stopping Ingram must be a priority.
