The Washington Wizards announced today that they have officially signed shooting guard Hamidou Diallo and guard Gabe Kalscheur to Exhibit 10 contracts.

The Washington Wizards announced today that they have officially signed shooting guard Hamidou Diallo and guard Gabe Kalscheur to Exhibit 10 contracts.

The team announced a few hours later, they have waived both players.

Hamidou Diallo was drafted by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2018-2019 season and spent seasons there. The last two seasons he played for the Detroit Pistons where he started in 29 games in the 2021-2022 season. Diallo averages 8.6 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 1.1 assists per game.

Wizards fans have reacted positively to the signing.

Also expressing that this is a “chess move” by Wizards General Manager Will Dawkins.

The connection with Diallo may be familiar to Dawkins given his years with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Gabe Kalscheur is a rookie from the Iowa State Cyclones where he averaged 12.9 points per game last season. Kalscheur spent some time this year playing at Summer League with the Golden State Warriors.

Earlier this week, the Wizards announced they signed guard Devon Dotson to an Exhibit 10 contract as well. However to make this move of signing Diallo and Kalscheur, Devon Dotson was waived.

Now the Wizards leadership have the tall task of finalizing the roster before the start of the NBA regular season. The team has a good problem in that most have made an impact in some way that aligns with the vision leadership has set out for the team. It won’t be long now before the roster is set and the game action when it counts starts.
