Why The Wizards May Be Title Contenders Next Season
The work of the Washington Wizards in their front office is really getting real! They have been busy since the summer time after trading Bradley Beal and Kristaps Porzingis. Kyle Kuzma’s name has been circulated in some trade rumors as well. Even the newly acquired Jordan Poole’s name has come up in trade rumors too. Something tells me the Wizards have something big in store this offseason. Something tells me the Wizards are just getting started when it comes to trades and signings. Something tells me Will Dawkins and the Washington Wizards may be playing chess while the rest of the league seems to be playing checkers.
In 1998, Michael Jordan retired from the NBA as a member of the Chicago Bulls. Chicago was where it all happened for MJ. However, the Washington Wizards were able to sign him in 2001 when he made his return to the league. It was a moment that meant the world for this organization.
This upcoming Summer, LA Lakers Forward LeBron James has a player option. LeBron has went on wax to say that he is playing with his son no matter what next season. Bronny James has plans to enter into the 2024 NBA Draft. With that being the case, LeBron James will opt out of his player option with the Lakers just to play with his son, Bronny James.
Meanwhile, the Washington Wizards have been stockpiling draft picks. There’s a reason for that. Maybe, they want to land Bronny James in the draft. Landing him may secure the arrival of LeBron James. The irony of this situation is the Wizards signed Michael Jordan late in his career. Now, they may have a chance as signing LeBron James who is arguably in the GOAT conversation with Michael Jordan.
Drafting Bronny James in this upcoming NBA Draft makes sense for a number of different reasons. Landing LeBron James is just an added bonus. The Wizards need a Point Guard of the future. They need a franchise piece there. Bronny playing next to LeBron will only improve his playmaking abilities.
Bronny James is a defensive minded point guard. He actually may bring to mind Delon Wright who is often injured. Bronny will be an instant upgrade there from Delon Wright. Additionally, anytime you sign LeBron James, you instantly enter into title contention as he attracts other stars and good players even this late into his career. LeBron wants to win no matter what by any means necessary. He puts pressure on front offices to do so. The Wizards have been acquiring draft assets for a reason. If they get an opportunity to sign Bronny James, the Wizards will instantly become title contenders in the Eastern Conference.
